Nathan Kroeker serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Spark Energy and is a Member of our Board of Directors. Nathan was appointed as President in April 2012 and CEO in April 2014. Nathan has over 17 years of experience in retail and wholesale energy, M&A and public accounting.
Nathan joined the company in July 2010 as Chief Financial Officer for Spark Energy and for Marlin Midstream, an affiliated midstream energy company. Prior to joining Spark Energy, Nathan was Senior Vice President, Finance for Macquarie Energy, the global energy supply and trading division of Macquarie Bank. He also previously served as Chief Financial Officer for the retail and wholesale businesses of Direct Energy, the North American subsidiary of Centrica.
Nathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba and is a Certified Public Accountant as well as a licensed Chartered Accountant in Canada. Nathan is actively involved in the community with several organizations including Helping a Hero, Lemonade Day, Child Advocates, and Young Life. Nathan is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities with his wife and 3 children.
Allison Wall serves as Chief Operating Officer, a position she has held since joining Spark Energy in January 2013. Allison has extensive professional experience in retail energy operations including marketing and customer experience, information technology, regulatory compliance, and customer operations.
Prior to joining Spark Energy, Allison served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at StarTex Power, a competitive retail electricity provider based in Houston, Texas. Allison also served as Vice President, Residential at Champion Energy Services and Vice President, Customer Care and Residential Marketing at Gexa Energy during her fifteen years in the retail energy business.
Allison serves on the Board of Directors of the Gulf Coast Power Association and on its emPOWERing Women Committee, whose purpose is to encourage women to select and develop careers in the electricity industry by providing mentoring, networking and scholarship opportunities. Allison holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarkson University, a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA in Finance and Information Systems from Tulane University.
Georganne Hodges was named Chief Financial Officer in November of 2013. Georganne is a seasoned financial executive with 25 years of retail and wholesale energy experience. In her role at Spark Energy, she is responsible for corporate financial reporting, risk management, accounting, financial planning & analysis, treasury, tax and internal controls.
Prior to joining Spark Energy, she served as the Chief Financial Officer for Direct Energy’s retail energy business from August 2009 to October 2012 and in various other senior financial roles from September 2003 to July 2009. She began her finance career with Arthur Andersen, where she audited companies across the energy value chain.
Georganne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baylor University and is a licensed certified public accountant in the state of Texas. In addition to being a member of the Houston Chapter of CPA’s and the Women’s Energy Network, she currently serves as the President of her local High School’s band booster board. Georganne and her husband enjoy splitting time between baseball, football and band activities with their 3 teenagers.
Gil Melman serves as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, a position he has held since February of 2014. Gil is responsible for Spark Energy's legal, risk management, and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Spark Energy, Gil served as the General Counsel to Madagascar Oil Limited, an oil and gas exploration and production company. Previously, he has acted as general counsel and in-house counsel to several energy companies as well as a regional private equity fund. Gil began his career practicing corporate law with the law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP, where his focus was primarily in corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions primarily in the energy industry.
Gil holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.
